Okay, so it's a crude title. I know this, but it's a saying, right? So let's go with it. Sadly, I don't own a pair of shoes that can fall under this category as I'm far too prudent to spend the kind of cash warranted for shoes that scream at passersby about their inherent sexiness. But let's pretend I can.

Despite all the drama surrounding John Galliano as of late, there is no denying that the man is ridiculously talented and can make the single most feminine collection during any given fashion week. That aside, the shoes shown for fall-winter were almost bondage-style (locked-up feet are are so hot, right?) I can't buy these, so pictures will suffice. Squeeee!

There are some ridiculously sweet sunglasses out there and I'm beginning to be just as big of a sucker for sunglasses as I am for coats. I'm gonna combine this post with a "purchased item" post because, well, I got some new sunglasses today. I've been coveting these babies since I saw the runway version in the S/S 2011 show:

I wanted the full runway version with the curled sides but it was over $500 at Holt Renfrew so...moving on.

Yeah, I guess these aren't actually sunglasses...but they are furry with panthers on the arms - this makes sense as the collection had a running 'Panther' theme. They are kind of amazing...and really serve no purpose whatsoever. I understand though that the retail version will be sunglasses and it will not be furry, but that takes the fun out it for me.

The Prudent Way

I wore a suit jacket today at work! The thrill here is that I wore the sleeves down all day long and it was perfect with the weather. The jacket is cut in a jockey-style though, so it was perhaps breezier than most. Ahem! Continuing along in my parade into fall/winter wear, the next step:

Sweater-dresses (as seen at Chloe)
To be honest, I don't wear the sweater-dresses I have because they are always too short. However, they look stellar when layered with a crisp shirt and cute belt...and even better when you do it like Hannah MacGibbons did at Chloe, in python print. Also, this length is absolutely perfect...so modest - I want! To be fair though, I don't think sweater-dresses are a "trend" for fall per se - I was hard-pressed to find any other sweater-dresses and when I did (at Sonia Rykiel), it wasn't very interesting. Whatever.

Fall Awakening

I'm in the minority, but I don't like summer nor the way I'm forced to dress for heat. I have great difficulty feeling good about what I wear when I can't layer to the hilt. But, fall is here! September has arrived and so I'm busting out long sleeves. That being said, I'm going to share a few of the key trends heading into fall that I'm going to try to incorporate in one way or another. First up...

I've already subconsciously started veering in this direction as my last two clothing purchases were lace-related. It's so pretty and tasteful, as long as you wear something underneath! Has Zara ripped these designs off yet?

For the last three Christmases, my Grandpa has unknowingly (funded) bought me Comme des Garçons items, the last two both being shoes. Of course, the first pair was my adored patent oxfords (which have since taken a beating thanks to my face-plant onto concrete last month.) This past Christmas' funding went to a pair of ruffled mary janes, as shown on the CdG runway for Fall/Winter 2011.

Yes, people at work have called them 'clown shoes', but I don't expect most people in this town to understand the appeal. And, like mentioned before, they are well-made and comfortable from the start. And flat! So practical I am...right?

Sally Strikes Again!

I had a manicure last weekend, and while it was nice, every single nail was smudged and imprinted by the next morning. I hate that. Though there are some products that can help with the drying aspect, they can't beat my newest nail obsession - Sally Hansen Salon Effects. I love you Sally!

These little wonders last up to 10 days (though personally I've only made it to six) and needs no drying time. All that, and everyone freaks out when they see them. My favorite is the houndstooth 'Check It Out' - I can actually match them to a pair of Comme des Garçons crops I have!

They aren't cheap at $10 a box, but for a decent looking polish that chips minimally after several days and can last longer than a week? Yeah, I'll pay. Now I just need to head down into America where the selection is bigger...

So I really have no excuse for half the stuff I buy, but I can always justify it. Last summer, I was planning my September excursion to Tokyo, which was experiencing their hottest summer in 100 years. Yippee. Looking into my wardrobe and spotting nothing but a lot of black, I decided to shop - of course. There was a Vivienne Tam sale on Gilt and I thought their butterfly motif of that collection was adorable. So...guess what happened next?

The white one was not sweat-proof enough. Too much information.

Thanks to the folks at “What Not To Wear”, every 45+ year old woman I talk to believes that all you need to do to look stylish is match your bag and shoes. Thanks a lot, Stacy London and blonde-ish guy.

Unfortunately, this “rule” has been abused. Give them an inch, and they run a mile, as the saying goes. Does the photo above scream ‘style’ to you? (If it does, the next question is whether you are 45+ or not and/or potentially from rural areas. It matters.)

One of the nice things about style and fashion is that generally, there are few rules. Buy clothes that fit you – don’t look at sizes. Buy quality clothes – these are available in all price ranges. Try to wear colours the look good together. Don’t wear mom jeans. Try not to wear only jeans. (I hate jeans.) Also, the cardinal rule should always be upheld – workout pants are not pants.

After going over that, matching bags and shoes doesn’t seem so bad. But unless the bag and shoes in question are black, I think anything else would look kind of silly. See the photos above again if you are unsure about that. Unless you are sporting an outfit like this:

Wang. The Wangster. The Wangman. All these ridiculous nicknames are attributed to Alexander Wang. By me. Which is lame. But anyway.

So as you've guessed by now, most of the time I spend in Japan, I spend inside shops, shopping. Mostly window-shopping though...until I see something remarkable. Shopping at Opening Ceremony (again) in Shibuya, I spotted the most fantastic pair of Alexander Wang shoes. Meet Ines.

Now, no one I talk to seems to like these shoes. I do!! So I tried to buy them. My size was sold out and very expensive in Tokyo.

I tried again a few weeks later at Holt Renfrew here in Vancouver. The very disinterested salesman managed to scrounge me up a size 40 and they were tight. My foot looked like it was swelling inside a tensor bandage. Not the look I was going for. The salesman half-heartedly suggested trying to find a size 41 somewhere else in Canada, checked, and found none. He stared off into space while I decided if I wanted to spend $475 on a tourniquet shoe. I didn't.

Tilly Bloom

On gloomy days like today (out here on the left coast, anyway), I really like an odd thing to make me smile and remember sunnier times. Cheesy sounding, isn't it?

I first saw Tilly Bloom at the Takashimaya Department Store Shinjuku in Tokyo back in 2009. I was passing through the accessories section, generally overwhelmed by the pearls and delicate gold chains when something completely curious lept out at me.

I immediately flip over the object in question and was greeted by a cute little emblem of the brand - Tilly Bloom. Like the savvy (or cheap) consumer I am, I jotted down the name of the brand and continued on my merry way (because surely I can find this imported item cheaper at home, right?)

Fast forward to Christmas 2010. I order Tilly Bloom for myself and my sister who I have in our gift exchange. I also requested Tilly Bloom from my other sister in the gift exchange. It was a very Tilly Christmas.

Little Bulldozers

That's what I call these shoes - little bulldozers. I guess that's what they feel like to me. Are you sick of my purchases yet? Well, these are an oldie. I bought these last year during my trip to Florida and have been stomping around in them on and off ever since. These aren't by any means luxury, but they don't require any effort to put on, and I like that. Did you know Adidas had a line called slvr?

Again, I'm all about short boots and dragging my feet in them all winter. I know it's bad, but I even wear these to work sometimes when I don't care if I look sloppy. Not exactly office attire. But I'm just a rebel.

Purchases in Memoriam

I'm ashamed to admit that last year after Alexander McQueen died, I joined the crowd that felt the need to try to reach out and grab any residual bits from his empire while they lasted. However, I did this with the thought that he was somehow involved in the McQ line, rather than just supplying the affiliation and inspiration for the brand. Whatever. I wanted McQueen any way I could get it, as some were questioning the very continuity of the entire brand. So I bought some things. First up was this wool/silk blend safety pin scarf.

I appeared as though the online shops selling McQueen were acutely aware of this sudden appeal and prices sky-rocketed. No more $200 McQueen dresses to be found. Maybe the label will finally make some money?

Second item was the next best thing to a $200 McQueen dress - a $200 McQ dress. Unfortunately they only came in S, M, and L...

The dress...fit. But damn it is tight around the bust. I make do and wear it out. This dress assisted me in celebrating my birthday this last December in a dark underground nightclub in Tokyo. Renegade? This is what the brand is supposed to be. I'm going to try to live it.

Bootie Call

For fall/winter, I think every lady needs a versatile pair of ankle boots. At least for now, while they are fashionable. I bought a pair over a year ago and despite some wear-and-tear on the stiletto-ish heel, they are as soft and buttery as the day I pulled them from their box. But Pour la Victoire shoes are like that.

And from the picture above, you can see the flash of the gold studded fleur de lis on the sole. And the heel height? Oh-so manageable.

Pour la Victoire shoes are solid-quality shoes at a very reasonable price - I can personally vouch for that. And ankle boots look great with cropped trousers, skirts, tights, leggings, and most things in between. Just make sure you attend to the leather sole if you have one. Any cobbler worth their salt will make these babies as durable as...well, a non-leather sole.

Rant: Irrational Desire

"Irrational Desire" - this is what Marc Jacobs claimed was the inspiration behind his latest Louis Vuitton collection, referencing people's obsession with LV bags and accessories. The icing on the cake for me was the introduction of a new level of ridiculousness - Mon Monogram - which brings narcissism to a whole new level.

As if LV bags weren't ubiquitous enough, now you can now show how rich and trendy you really are with your initials scribbled on the damn thing. And a racing stripe? Oh...now those are oh-so-hot. Gosh, I'm so full of sarcasm here and it's about as appealing as these bags.

Because I want my backseat to look like this.
Instead of 'J.K', mine would say 'L.O.L'.

There is one positive here about monogramming your bag - at least might think twice before stealing it - unless they have the same initials as you. Still, it's lame.

I got the fever! Spring fever, that is. I know that spring is around the corner when I get the itch to start buying dresses. As you may know, I’m currently doing quite well in restraining to buy more clothes. I hope this doesn’t re-open the floodgates.

So, finally, after my Gilt rant (here), they decided to have a sale. The selection was kind of meh, but I did find a pretty blue dress with some lovely sheer bubble sleeves and a nice silver zipper up the back. And roomy! There’s nothing like wearing a dress out to dinner and being able to let it all out afterward. That’s also an important factor about buying clothes online – buy a silhouette in a size you know you will be comfortable with. Guesswork + tight dresses = bad situation. Also, my first dress by ADAM. I don’t know who that is either.

I bought this necklace at the end of 2009 - this is a story about the lazy blogger. You see kids, when a blogger is so lazy, they don't attract readers because they are not relevant. This necklace is not relevant. I still like it though and you can probably expect to see this style in your local Claires in a few months, if it's not there already. But how many people can say that theirs is a Rock & Bone branded one!? No one. Because no one knows who that is...? Yep.

I love fashion because it's a never-ending ride where every once in a while, something cool comes along that is just so different than anything you could have imagined yourself. And I'm like, "Yes!" because it is precisely those things that make dressing yourself interesting. Of course, this is provided that you can afford said items in question. But really, I feel like I'm cooler for even knowing they exist out there (on someone.) It leaves me excited to find out what comes after.

The first place I saw a piece by Delfina Delettrez was at Opening Ceremony in Tokyo - it struck me immediately because my teenage heritage is rooted in punk rock. And man...if I had one any one of these in my repertoire back then, I would have been...well...even more punk rock (minus all the criticism that would be sure to ensue given the fact that to purchase the item alone requires more money than "punk rock" allows...) Accessories can create a look entirely on their own. Remember my bit about statement pieces? Say hello.

Rant: Gilt-y As Charged

Just a temporary derailment from applicable fashion posts so I can get out what I've been thinking for a while...

When I first heard of Rue La La back in November of 2008, I thought I had died on gone to heaven. Then Gilt came along and my wallet just straight up died. As you have likely noticed (if you are a member of those sites and, you know, actually care), a large portion of the purchases on here have arrived at my doorstep via their shopping carts. My rabid fandom hit a fever pitch in January of 2010 when I went nutso from cabin fever and purchased the lion’s share of what you are now seeing come onto these pages as ‘purchases’. But…around a year ago this time, the love affair began to fade.

The business side of me wonders what has gone on behind the scenes at Gilt, mainly wondering if their sales numbers have gone down and if customer usage has dropped. I know my purchases are now few and far between since they changed their sales approach. Touting themselves as a ‘members only’ site (which is a massive joke because anyone and everyone can join), their sales used to be, well, sales. Like the kind you’d fight your own Mother for. And I got some good deals in my time – I bought this Alexander McQueen dress for $199, this Alexander McQueen scarf for $50, and this Fendi watch for $199. OK OK…I’m seeing somewhat of a pattern here – I can attest that the Alexander McQueen has skyrocketed on Gilt and to find even a shirt for less than $200 is going to be tough (since his untimely death left everyone wanting more.) But even the lower-high-end brands are only listing at around 50 percent off retail. And there are next to zero final sales to be found. Which his such a shame, because the scores were awesome! Now they just have hundreds of these variety-type sales where everything is just the same sale price as before because they’ve come down to one item of each in stock because someone returned it from the original sale. Lame. Where is the good sales? BRING BACK THE FINAL SALES and cheaper McQueen!

Ugh. I'd wondered why Gilt's boutiques had gone so downhill lately. Now the reason is clear: the plebeians only are permitted to access the sloppy seconds (i.e., the "contemporary" or "up-and-coming" designers). Oh, and in the event that Gilt does have a boutique featuring a designer that you've actually heard of, the clothing is seasons' old and has been featured on the site at least three times before. In the past year, I've down scaled my Gilt purchases drastically because the boutiques are sub-par. Now, I'm going to curtail my shopping all together.

MEN

I just finished watching 'A Single Man' - a movie directed by fashion designer Tom Ford - and it really made me think about how easy it is for men to be stylish, but so few choose to! Sadness rebounds in my world because of this. I must say that this is the first time I realized how completely cool Colin Firth is. Does it hurt that Tom Ford's sleek signature style resonates throughout the movie? Not at all!

I'm not going to pretend I'm some cinematic wizard or anything - this movie doesn't really have a plot point and I'm not always good with those kinds of movies. I just watched because I like Mr. fuzzy-sweater, Nicholas Hoult.

I guess this is why 'Mad Men' is so popular right now - that classic cool style from the '60s kicks the casual crap that has become our go-to fashion choices of the current era. Can't my husband walk around in a Tom Ford suit?

Oh Julianne Moore, you are the epitome of everything gorgeous.

To summarize (though I didn't say anything even remotely compelling), I think this movie is pretty. I also wish more men would take how they look more seriously, but avoid being pretentious while doing so. Impossible?

Ps, men - Can you wear only shiny black shoes with suits? It's hot.

Wearing Tartan

At the moment, I’m feeling uninspired. It’s depressing! So while I’m over here wallowing, trying to think of some (constructive) rant to go on, I’ll just post more of the stuff I’ve bought. The list never ends.

Pink Tartan is one of those brands that frequently pop up on those online sale sites and generally, I’m not interested in the typical office fare available. But during one fated final sale ages ago (they’ve seemed to cease the ‘final sales’ as of recent times), I decided to take a chance on some wool crepe cropped pants (again with the cropped pants). Wonderful! Well, their sizing is generous enough that a belt is required, but these pants are a dream when it comes to comfort and shape. I need more black pants for work now though…can anyone please make a WASHABLE pair? Enough with these wool/silk-blends people. Don’t make me shop at Suzy Shier or Smart Set! I will die.

Marc-y-Marc

Wow some of these purchases are old! Take, for example, this blue and black dress – I recall wearing this during my March exam last year! Oh well. I still like it. In fact, I’m really partial to Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The clothes generally come in small, medium, and large and are roomy, fun, and interesting. So…in the end, I bought a crapload (for the moment, anyway), of Marc by Marc clothes.

I’m also just going to put it out there right now that the following pants work excellently for bowling. And they are shiny! Who doesn’t like shiny things?

OOPS. I SHOULDN’T HAVE BOUGHT ALL THAT. But it was on a big sale and the clothes were fun and I was confident about the sizing and I was in a blue phase and I can come up more excuses than anyone ever.

Talking Myself Down

While I still have much to learn when it comes to saying “NO” to buying whatever amazing clothing is dangling in front of me at the moment (which is really why this blog exists in the first place), lately I have been exercising tremendous restraint and I’d like to offer my entirely unprofessional two-cents worth. Please try these at home. And if they don’t work, well, then you are really no worse off, right? Because you were going to buy it anyway.

Method a:
Imagine that you buy it and you’ve brought it home and it’s the next day and you want to wear it out. What do you pair it with? I specifically think of shoes at this point (unless of course, the purchase IS shoes and then you should BUY BUY BUY), and try to imagine if I can comfortably allocate a pair to this particular item. If I can allocate several, I’m on the path to purchase. If I’m pondering buying a purple and beige dress (like I am this very moment), that’s another story. I’m leaning towards no since I don’t want to wear black with it and I don’t have any decent beige shoes that I can wear for a long haul. Get my drift? It’s in there somewhere.

Method b:
You like it…is it because you already have something pretty close to it? And by pretty close, I mean if you are thinking about a black cardigan – do you have one in a similar style (regardless of the accent, design, fabric). Would you wear this piece with different items than the other one you have? Does if fill a wardrobe gap (however small)? It should – don’t just add substitute items – not worth the money! Which leads me to…

Method c:
Is it really worth the money? Now, this question is kind of invalid when buying designer items because, well, of course the answer is usually no. (I’m not immune to it though!) But even then…ask the questions in a and b but if you are passionate about the piece and its pricey AND designer (and if it is truly amazing, it likely is) and you’ll think about it for months (years?) after and wish you would have bought and it won’t make you destitute, buy it!! Um…I’m off track now. Maybe that leads me to…

Method? d:
Buy items that you are passionate about. Seriously. I’m talking about the moment you see it you are like, “!!!” It happens to me everyone once in a while. And TRY THINGS ON! But that doesn’t work so well if you are buying online…which I do all the time (as evidenced by the material in this blog.) If you can’t try it on, at least try to be familiar with the designer and know your size – go to a store and try the clothes on, take note, and then leave. Or guess. That sometimes works for me too. And sometimes not, as substantiated by the giant Y-3 dress hanging in my closet. Boo.

So there you have it – my jumbled, incoherent plea in attempting to save you some money. Did it work? I’m guessing not since you are here reading this blog and not shopping right now. So…yeah.

Cult Classic

I’m obsessed. I’ve been obsessed with a lot of things in my day – Brad Renfro, designer denim, perfume, Apollo 13 – but that’s ancient history. My newest obsession is Jeffrey Campbell shoes. I know obsession sounds really extreme and kind of psycho, but I what else can you call it when every idle moment on the Internet is spent on solestruck.com deciding which pair shoes I am going to buy next. This is a daily occurrence and very serious.

Let me say that I am kind of practical when it comes to shoes (emphasis on kind of.) I can’t fathom spending the big dollars on crazy-high heels and so my Gucci shoes are runners and my Prada shoes are ballet flats. Get the picture? No Louboutins here (not yet, anyway.) But these…these are another story. They are a mid-price-range shoe with an unbelievable amount of comfort despite their height. I traipsed around Tokyo for nearly two weeks in the 99 TIE, whose heel clocks in at nearly 4”. My next purchase? The Clinic – a 5” behemoth.

You Got "It" Dude

Did anyone other myself go “HUH?” when you first heard that the Olsen twins were going to design clothes? That’s like me deciding that I’m going to start a clothing line. Or Snooki. But the difference here is that their clothes turned out pretty good and me and Snooki are just going to have to settle for being left in the dust. Wait. Why the hell did I bring Snooki into this? Whatever. Anyway, the Olsens are actually regarded with some cred in the industry and frankly, after I bought a pair of Elizabeth & James pants, I can see why. They are nice. I don’t know how much part the Olsens actually had in the design, or if one can really screw up a pair of black pants, but…yeah. I like them. But I’m also a sucker for ankle pants.

My Rooftop Horse

I look at fashion editorials like a picture book. The clothes are ridiculously out of my price range and the models are impossibly thin doing things I won’t ever do (like petting a horse on a rooftop in Paris wearing wings.) So…what’s the point of them? Why do they even include the prices? A fun game I played with my in-laws during the summer while waiting in the ferry lineup was “Guess the price”. I’d show them the editorial and they’d guess the price. The conversation often went something like this:

Me: Guess how much this black mini skirt is?
Them: Um…$80.
Me: $1,500! Guess how much those gloves are?
Them: Um...$25.
Me: $350!

Is anyone really going to buy the plain white knit from Prada for $800? Are those the same people that buy fashion magazines? Oh whatever. Honestly, aside from some absolutely stellar photographers, I don’t give a hoot (ha!) what designer loaned their collection for some waif to wear (while petting her rooftop horse.) Did I just mention stellar editorial photographers? Oh yes…and do you want to see the work of one? TIM WALKER.

Haan-ds Down

I used to think leather jackets were reserved for older people who shop at Danier Leather. I mean, my parents picked up new leather jackets each spring when the winter coats were on clearance and frankly, they weren’t flattering or fashionable (sorry Mom). However, I got a bee in my bonnet (so to speak) last winter and I set out on a hunt for one…from someplace else. Well, it turns out that the someplace was a Rue La La sale, and though the model and styling were absolutely horrific, I saw beyond to a sweet Cole Haan jacket at a decent price.

And here is my first purchase with none of the passion that usually accompanies one of such magnitude. It’s no secret I’m a crazy fanatic for Alexander McQueen and most everything that marches out under the brand. But I bought these sandals last year and I just can’t get excited about wearing them. You see, I was at work one day and was about to rush off to a meeting and these were in my cart…and my credit card information was already in the system and so…well, you can guess the rest.

My foot just feels so naked.

I’m sad. They are just so hard on my feet!

Statement Pieces

One of the easiest ways to kick up your personal style a notch is to focus on a statement piece. A statement piece can be any piece, but there must be only one. This is handy if you aren’t super-rich (like myself) but still want to look like you aren’t completely hopeless on the fashion front. And it’s also handy because you only need to buy one thing! Even if you don’t know what to pick, most gaudy things look OK on their own paired with an all-black ensemble. Think…like, yellow stilettos or something. Catch my drift?

My favourite stand-out items are necklaces, brooches, bottoms, and tights. And some of these can be bought for really cheap. Use your imagination!

I own the leggings and the tights and, well, they are me. But this is just to give you an example of how one item can turn your otherwise mundane black pants/tunic/blazer/dress into an outfit. The list I’ve shown above is a real mix between high and low fashion (Lanvin necklace, handmade brooch, handmade leggings, cheapo $4 tights), so no excuse not to try. No harm – I want to see more of this!

In 2009 (aka forever ago), I bought that pair of Gucci sneakers which are now collecting dust in my shoe rack. Seriously, I’m choked that it’s such a shame. Since I don’t wear jeans, I don’t usually wear sneakers either. Ugh, enough about those. This post is about my most-cherished shoe that I bought less than a month after the Guccis and, to this day, adore the most of all my shoes.

If you know me at all, you know that one of my two favourite brands is the ubiquitous Comme des Garçons. And their shoes are a dream. They never require breaking-in and they will be eternally fashionable. I hope.

I would sleep with these on my pillow if it wasn’t so unsanitary.

Case Study 1: Creating an "eye"

What looks good? Why? How do people ever figure out how to look stylish and fashionable with what’s available in their price range? I’m not a professional, but I do know what looks awful and why.

Let's do a short case study. Here's two photos and I want you to think about who is fashionable and who's a fashion victim.

It's too easy, isn't it? But why do you think so?

Here’s my two cents on it. Dear Solange in the pink tights looks like she’s combining a bunch “trendy” things to say “look at me!” – the belt, the tights, the booties, an awful shiny shirt – but our friend in black has worked with proportion, details, and a hint of gold. I would fix Solange (ha ha ha – I’m getting self-righteous here), by changing two things – the tights and bag. My personal choices for substitution would be these:

Pamela Mann tights - $13.30 (I own these and love them.)

Alexander McQueen clutch – more than $13.30 (I have no idea and I’m not going to check! But Solange has enough money, so…no excuses.)

The easiest way to start seeing what works and what doesn’t is to look at yourself in the mirror every morning, basically. Don’t you get that feeling when something doesn’t “work”? Trust it. Make sure you feel good about it when you leave the house. Believe me – it will put a bounce in your step.

Let me re-introduce myself. I am an 'Aspirational'. At least, according to this article. And...though I like to come off as rich and fancy, let's face it - I'm pretty poor 99 percent of the time. I think I've finally decided what I'd like to blog/write about - poor people making life look fancy, because I think I know that really well. As an avid reader of a lot of the major fashion blogs, I noticed that people who dress in head-to-toe designer are perceived as not "real" or "relatable". But I don't want to tell you what to buy or anything. It would be silly to assume our aesthetic eyes would be the same. I just want to talk about what is popular, what I like, and what you might like too. With likely the occasional rant about something thrown in.

Let's be honest - there is a truckload of fashion blogs out there who have one good entry that you happened to stumble on when you were searching for a picture of a pair of shoes on Google or something. At the best, that's kind of what I hope for. But I hope you stay to read more.

After a longggg hiatus (completely unannounced, I might add - though no one really reads this blog anyway except my sisters - thanks Sis!) I think I'm going to stage a bit of a comeback in the new year. I kind of re-imagined what I wouldn't mind blogging about and it's going to aim to be a bit more about me realizing what fashion I truly like and constantly discovering new things (things = not just clothes) which will further that. I haven't stopped shopping though (*sigh*) so there will probably be some of that thrown in too. Like always, it will be very visual because commentary is never exciting without pictures.

It's about time I dedicated a post to the shoe that, in an instant, reminds me of Japan. Meet the Rocking Horse shoes designed by Ms. Vivienne Westwood.

I first saw these shoes while enamored with a little manga/movie entitled "Nana". These shoes are iconic and somewhat symbolic of "true punk" style over there in Harajuku. Truly coveted, these shoes are not cheap, with several smaller shops selling used pairs at stable, inflated prices.

When I was in London last year I wanted to buy something from the Vivienne Westwood flagship on Conduit Street, and I didn't feel like dropping an excessive amount of pounds, so I just bought a necklace. Turns out, the necklace was apt to shedding it's Swarovski crystals and they don't believe in responding to customer inquiries. Perfect...I'll just go over here into my little corner with my broken necklace and nosh on some fish and chippies.

Confession time. I don't need glasses. I got laser eye surgery two and a half years ago and my vision is better than 20/20, but my benefit provider doesn't need to know that. Whoo hoo! A new day means I'm starting a new series (well, today means that anyways). I must say this is my favorite so far - Milan Fashion Week. Wow! I feel like if I slipped these puppies on, I could take on the world (as far as my feet would take me in these toothpick-width heels)! Red = hot. Plastic see-through panels = hot. Hence these shoes = hot. Yes.

I kind of imagine this dress would best suit some girl running through a meadow barefoot on a lazy summer day being chased by a farmhand. However, I can tell you from first hand knowledge that farmers don't choose Prada. This dress is so pretty though.
